Inauguration of the DARDILLY++ PILOT PLANT

ITEN LAUNCHES INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION OF ITS “ALL-SOLID-STATE” MICRO-BATTERIES WITH A PILOT PLANT ABLE TO PRODUCE 30 MILLION UNITS A YEAR.

ITEN inaugurates today its DARDILLY++ pilot plant. By transforming its R&D laboratory into a large-scale production site, the French company, which won the “Best of Innovation Awards 2024” at CES in Las Vegas, is positioning itself as a key player in the global market for micro-batteries for IoT and connected objects. The 14 million euros invested in the plant make ITEN one of the few global players in “all-solid state” technology, with an annual production capacity of over 30 million components.

The launch of the Dardilly++ plant marks a turning point for ITEN, enabling it to industrialize the production of its micro-batteries. Dardilly++ is thus a fundamental step in ITEN’s commercial development in a market where there are few global players in “all-solid” technology. At a time when a European directive aims to ban button batteries by 2030, and when there are strong demands for technological development that consumes less energy and resources, ITEN is providing solutions that are more respectful of the environment, with a 10 to 20-year lifespan, and rechargeable batteries. “ITEN is a French industrial gem, a leader in the development and production of ‘all-solid’ batteries for energy and power storage. Today, with the inauguration of Dardilly++, ITEN is taking a real industrial turnaround, which offers us a major opportunity to take leadership in a market whose needs and growth potential are huge and global in scope.“ said Vincent Cobée, CEO of ITEN.

Dardilly++, a strategic step in the development of “Made in France” micro-batteries ITEN’s micro-batteries offer unrivalled power densities, with capacities currently ranging from 150μAh to 1.5mAh, meeting the needs of the the rapidly expanding market for connected objects, autonomous sensors and wearables. ITEN solutions meet both power requirements and the miniaturization constraints of electronic systems. These high-volume markets are growing by more than 10% a year. ITEN masters the entire value chain, from the synthesis of the active nanomaterials that form the heart of the batteries, up to the final test, passing through the manufacture of the electrodes and assembly, including the development of the process and the specification of production equipment. The company is backed by over 200 patents ITEN solutions: performance and sustainability by design, by process, by function ITEN products are designed and produced with great respect for the environment:

  • Design: ITEN batteries are made of ceramic, without organic matter or critical metals such as cobalt. They are rechargeable and recyclable;
  • Process: the formulation and synthesis of active are based on aqueous or light solvents;
  • Usage: the unique performance of ITEN batteries in terms of energy and power allows the use of very little active materials (10 to 100 times less) compared with batteries or capacities of equivalent performance, with a lifespan ranging from 10 to 20 years.
